The Burton Court Case Study

A book that has been 7 years in the making covering Burton Court's eventful history and heritage over the last thousand years is now for sale in local bookshops.

'A Case Study of Burton Court' is a unique book created by the Eardisland Archaeological Projects & History Group. The book, which has been grant funded by the Local Heritage initiative is an expansive exploration into Burton Court's archaeology and the ever changing social history and landscape associated with the Manor of Burton.

The archaeological dig was actually started from examining the spoil from an old badger set that contained some medieval pottery. This was the spark that started the work of the Archaeological group that has now established the largest medieval pottery assemblage in the county.

The book also covers aspects of Burton Court's changing Architecture and it's gardens. Members of the group also undertook detailed documentary investigations and have uncovered many new and previously unrecorded facts about ownership and occupation.

The Case Study is available to buy now at bookshops in Leominster, Kington, Weobley and the Eardisland tea rooms. Alternatively, you can contact Burton Court directly.
